Mystic
Mystic aims to create a range of equipment that embraces modern technology and durability, allowing kitesurfers to break all existing boundaries. Mystic develops wetsuits, harnesses, boardbags and all different kinds of accessories. I did an internships at Mystic and subsequently worked on different projects as a freelancer.

Warrior softshell harness
I redesigned the interior and exterior plates based on a similair harness within the collection. The plates are 3D molded and stitched into the harness.

3D CAD models were made with SolidWorks. Together with the team, one design was chosen which was rendered and sent to the manufacture.
Wing foil leash range
As wing foiling is a relative new sport, it quickly becomes more and more populair. The demand for reliable accessories rised, therefore a complete range of leashes needed to be made.
During this project I developed the "wing waistbelt", "wingleash ankle", "wingleash calf", "wingleash waist", "wingleash wrist" and "harness lines stretched". Emphasis was put on the sizing, material and configuration when combining these products, including those from different brands.
Several experts were interviewed as they already had much experience on what sizing and configuration worked well. Furthermore, a market analysis was conducted to evaluate the already existing products within this category. This all was evaluated, the findings created the foundation for this product range.

Comfort is as important as functionality with these product, as design flaws can significantly impact the rider's performance. Products need to be trusted through rough situations, open sea with strong currents and high wind speeds is the standard.
Warrior X hardshell harness
Mystic has a wide range of different harnesses, which all have a different stiffness. At that time you could choose between a harness with a composite backplate (carbon or glass fiber) or a backplate made out of a fabric. As these options were the complete opposite of eachother (stifness wise) they wanted to have a mid-aspect harness, one made out of plastic.

"Best of both worlds"

However, after the first prototype was SLS printed, they found out that the designed backplate was not flexible enough to fit in the existing range. Thefore the design had to be adjusted to be less stiff. I made the ribs on the back, which created most of the stiffness, lower. After several FEM-analysis of the different adjusted backplates one design was chosen to be produced.
Besides the design adjustments a logo needed to be placed on the backplate, therefore I workedout several different options. After evaluating them with the team we came up with the final design.
